The Hague

The Hague 18:00
We have just arrived in The Hague with 8 lovely students. We had a very short trip, without any problems.
Now we are very excited to explore the city centre. Meanwhile, one by one the students are using IT to inform us they have arrived safely in their host families.
This week, we will inform you about our adventures in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Erasmus+ @ The Hague - day 1

Today, we started with a general introduction, followed by a quiz on Hungary,Spain, Holland and Belgium in multiple languages. After that we received a school tour and did a workshop on (cyber)bullying. We had goose bumps of all the personal experiences students were willing to share with us.
In the afternoon, things were a little more cheerful. We visited Madurodam, a mini version of Holland.

Erasmus+ @ The Hague - day 2

Another day at The Hague, and the work really started today.

The students worked on the project, answering questions about the other countries, so they can create an app later this week.
The juniors were in a Dutch class comparing the language in Holland and Flanders.
They also did a training on www.storybird.com.

The seniors were in history class talking about the moment Holland, Hungary, Spain and Belgium were one nation and they discovered how they split up. They also had a programming workshop.

In the afternoon, the students went on a (guided) hunt for Pokemons, passing famous places in The Hague ;-) Some of them even caught a glimpse of Kate Middleton!

More news tomorrow.

Erasmus+ @ The Hague - day 3

Another day, another excellent experience.
In the morning the juniors learnt the code to write things on a web page. Furthermore, they created a building which could be printed in 3D.
The seniors used iPads to film, using an autocue. They also started to create an app about the different countries.
In the afternoon, all students practised some typically/old Dutch sports. Afterwards, Sinterklaas came to visit them.

In the evening, all the parents (host families) came to school and brought some food they had prepared. We had a lovely dinner!

Erasmus+ @ The Hague - day 4

Today is Thursday and the project is almost reaching its end.
Today we finalized the ITproject at school with all the students combined. The juniors created a newspaper, the seniors finished up their app and created news flashes about IT@School.
It was nice to see them all working together.

In the afternoon, we visited Delft. We walked through the pretty lanes and the students did an interactive ITgame from the firm SpellenLab. We even discovered a tavern which was referring to Mol.

Erasmus+ @ The Hague - day 5

Today we had a cultural day to end our journey.
This morning, we left the school to go to Amsterdam.

We first visited the Rijksmuseum, and afterwards we took a boat to travel the beautiful canals of Amsterdam city. We had splendid views and could admire the architecture within the city.

In the evening, we had a wonderful dinner with students and teachers.

The most difficult part was saying goodbye to the students from the other countries. But all students will agree on this: Erasmus+ is changing our lives and opening our minds.
